John L. Skari, Jr.
Partner
John L. Skari, Jr. has argued before the Colorado Supreme Court and the Tenth Circuit, tried cases in courts across Colorado, and built a practice representing businesses, contractors, developers, and business owners in complex litigation, transactions, and operational matters. A partner at Hassan + Cables, he serves as litigation counsel, transaction counsel, and outside general counsel for clients who value having one experienced attorney capable of handling a broad range of legal issues.
Clients describe him as the attorney who knows how to handle whatever comes up and has the track record to back it up.
He represents general contractors, subcontractors, developers, manufacturers, franchise operators, and business owners across matters ranging from construction disputes and commercial litigation to major transactions, real estate matters, and catastrophic injury cases. Whether serving as outside general counsel, trying a case, negotiating a transaction, or handling an appeal, he brings the same practical advice, sound judgment, and focus on achieving the client's objectives.
Construction Litigation
Construction is one of John's most active practice areas. John represents clients in Colorado construction litigation matters involving construction defects, payment disputes, mechanics liens, contract enforcement, and other construction-related claims. His clients include electrical, stucco, and excavation subcontractors, as well as general contractors, on complex multi-party projects.
Outside General Counsel
A significant part of John's practice is serving as the legal advisor for businesses that do not have in-house counsel. He represents a range of companies, handling everything from commercial contracts and terms and conditions through employment matters, collections, products liability, and major property acquisitions. He does this for construction companies, manufacturers, restaurant groups, and other businesses that benefit from having one attorney who understands their operations.
Commercial Real Estate
John handles commercial leasing and real estate acquisitions for landlords, tenants, and buyers. He has active referral relationships with commercial real estate brokers and handles transactions across a range of asset types, from commercial property purchases to sale-leasebacks and development-related acquisitions.
Personal Injury
John's personal injury practice focuses on serious cases, catastrophic injuries and wrongful death matters where skilled representation makes a real difference. He takes PI work selectively, focused on serious injuries and clear liability.
Appeals
John handles appeals from the firm's litigation and takes stand-alone appellate referrals from attorneys whose clients need dedicated representation. He has argued before the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Colorado Supreme Court, and the Tenth Circuit. Appellate work ultimately comes down to the quality of the legal argument. No witnesses. No juries. Just the record, the law, and the ability to present a persuasive case to the court.
